Endurance Milestone – Foveaux Strait Attempt
In January 2025, Jamie More attempted a 30–35km crossing of Foveaux Strait… the world’s southernmost ocean swim route, stretching between Bluff (Jamie’s hometown) and Stewart Island in New Zealand. Known for its volatile conditions and remote location, the strait demands exceptional endurance and strategic precision. With water temperatures hovering at a brutal 13°C, Jamie spent over 8 hours in the strait before the swim was called due to a massive tide shift and the onset of severe hypothermia. Though officially marked as DNF (Did Not Finish), the attempt stands as a testament to Jamie’s resilience, preparation, and commitment to safety-first coaching.
Plans are already underway for a return attempt in February 2027.
